We request every alumni to volunteer to be the member of your alma mater to bring together all former students of cst, darjeeling in order to maintain contact among each other and with the alma mater, to foster fellow feeling and unity among all ex-students and to establish, maintain and conduct a social body with a purpose of promoting literature, culture and academic and to assist the school in furthering its interest and realizing its of objectives.

Alumni chapter of New York held first ever meeting to chalk out the activities to assist the Alma mater, which was initially attended by 25 alumnae and will be holding next meeting on 13th July with around 75 attendants to elect the office bearers. We sincerely expressed our gratitude to Miss Yangchenla for taking all out effort for the initiative in spite of her daily busy schedule to make this happen in true sense. We are looking forward to the success and the co operation receive from all Diasporas of this Alma Mater in New York.

On 23rd of May, the result of Class XII-AISSCE-2008 was formally announced through website and then that of class X-AISSE-2008 on 29th May. The passed percentage of Class XII is 90.5% and Class X is 75% respectively.
Miss Dhondup Lhamo topped in Humanities Stream (XII) with securing 73.4%, While Miss Sangay Yangchen topped in Commerce Stream (XII) with 85%.
From the class, both Master Tenzin Lekdhen and Master Hrishab Jaiswal topped with securing 73.4% equally.

This competition was held on 03/05/08 to develop the other aspect child faculty in terms of aesthetic, creativity and imaginative. The themes for the competition were recent political turmoil in Tibet for the Senior, cause and effect of pollution in the environment for the Junior and drawing of Plants and Animal for the Primary division.

At the end of every month, all the four Houses of the school as Songsten, Nyatri, Trisong and Tririal do actively participate in their allotted gardens by way of planting a new sapling, beautification of garden and removing of weeds, Each House has equal proportion of students’ numbers comprising from Class I to XII. The Trisong house had bag the first position for the month of May.

The Essay Competitions was hold on 12/05/08 at the three levels. The topics for the essay are
a) Should Value Education be made part of the school curricular?
b) Effective ways to improve reading habit and
c) T.V viewing-its usefulness and charms.

The Hostel Football Premier League was started from 5th to 11th May at two levels. The first senior level participants were selected from amongst themselves by giving the branded names for their own such as Night Thunder, Thusam Boys, Five Phoser in Exile, Gangtok Boys, Naughty Eight, Knight Riders, Fire Lion, Ragpickers boys. The winner team was Phoser in exile The second Primary level tournament was based on Inter- House competition comprising four houses- Songsten, Nyatri, Trisong and Tririal. The winning house was Tririal.

The Hostel Basketball Tournament had begun from 1st to 5th May. The students had coined the names of their team as Funky Fresher. Toxic Tiger, Youngstar, Fire Lion, Clippers united, North East United, Phoser in exile and Knight Riders. The winning team was Toxic Tiger.

A renowned Tibetan Physician, Dr. Pema Dorjee, who is alumni of CST, Darjeling visited our school on 10th, May and deliberated a comprehensive talk on wide ranging and vital health ailments occurring commonly in our community in the audience of all Presidents of NGO, staff and students. Thereafter, the interaction of Question and Answer session begun to make understand the ways and means of precaution and preventive measures to be taken for the dreaded diseases. The students interacted with doctor very lively with meaningful.

The In-Charge of career and guidance cell, Mr Jigme Ugyan administered the tests on 24th May with regard to Aptitude Personality and Motivational on the students of Class X to diagnosis their potential, interest, reasoning and aptitude as to give proper guidance about choosing their field of interest (Humanities, Commerce and Science) for Class XI.

The school remains closed from 1st to 20th June as summer vacation. Almost all the boarders who hail from nearby Darjeeling left for their homes, but those from Miao, Teju, Orissa and Bomdilla numbering around 30 have remained in the school due to distance factor and economic hardship. The boarders will have report on 20th of June school and will classes will resume on 21st June.

From 21st of June, new session for Class XI will be resuming for both the Arts and Commerce streams. In addition of our own students who passed from the same school, the intake of the newcomers for this class joins from feeder schools like Orissa, Sonada, kalimpong under CTSA and other schools under Department of Education, Dharamsala. The admission process in on till the middle of this month.

                                     The CST Alumni Association, Darjeeling would like to present the acute shortage of water crisis for the drinking as well as washing in the Central School for Tibetans, Darjeeling. The school had been facing such crisis unsolved for a long time and it known fact and experienced by almost all alumni passed out from this institution.

Such persistent crisis resulted into so many problems like unhealthy and unhygienic living conditions and occurrences of common ailments, like diarrhoea, scabies, cold and flue and many more which too demands treatment of medical expenses to the affected students.  At the peak hour of dry summer, water received from the municipality reservoir is too insufficient to meet the requirement of Kitchen. Nevertheless, very often students had to carry buckets for more than a kilometer to fetch water in and around the town for the preparation of their three times meals. Many a times, they had to sacrifice the normal functioning of classes to get scarce water.

The paucity of fund to construct the rain water harvesting or water reservoir to store water during the rainy season in the school is the main constraint. Therefore, we the Alumni Association Darjeeling has taken this initiative and project to be appeal to “SPONSORS” either individual or NGO through Alumni to extend every possible helping hand and come forward with gesture of humanitarian help and interest for good cause of school community which will resolve the problems in many ways in reality to make the real place of living with learning atmosphere.

The proposed PROJECT would cost to the extend of Rupees four lakhs ( Rs 4,00000/-) to  construct the water reservoir to save the water from waste. It is the estimated expenses of materials and labor or charges. The undersigned is eagerly looking forward to positive response and assistance.

The CSTD alumni Association, Darjeeling had convened a meeting at Manjushree Institude. All were overwhelmed with joy to receive very positive responses from several ex-school mates expressing their joy at the founding of its Alumni Association as the main umbrella. After reviewing the previous minute’s agenda, the members discussed about the possible projects for the school. All unanimously agreed about the water reservoir project as the most urgent matter to resolve the water crisis in the school. Due to the Class X and XII Exams, political unrest in Darjeeling as well as in Tibet, the alumni could not convene a general body meeting as proposed in the month of March or April.

This year around 54 students including both Arts and Commerce streams of Class XII had appeared for the CBSE-2008 along with 65 students of Class X smoothly. Their Exams were over on 2nd and 4th of April respectively.

On 19th March, 2008, the school observed its 38th graduation day. All the associations of Tibetan community attended and offered scarves to the outgoing students on this auspicious gathering of their last day school life. The first graduation day was held in April, 1971 for the first batch of 11 students. The day was ended with the emotional speeches given by the school captain Master Tamdin Tsewang and Master Tenzin Nyima and Miss Sneha Chettri. The day was followed by the group photo session.

The school career and counseling cell and counselor, Miss Choekyila ( North east zone under DOE, Dharamsala ) conducted a special counseling for the outgoing students regarding the choice of careers, subjects and application for the scholarship. At the end of questionnaire and career magazine, DUNLAM was distributed.

The 2008 session’s co curricular activities began with “Thinking Day” on 22nd Feb, 2008 by the Scouts and Guides unit. The garlanding of Portrait of founder of the scouting and guiding international movement was followed by all faith prayers and other activities. Finally a pledge was taken by those present “Not to litter the school campus”

On 5th afternoon, The inter class poetry recitation in Tibetan was held from Class 1 to X dividing them into four houses.

Two months photography workshop is going on for classes IX and X since the end of Feb, 2008 under the guidance of Mass Communication Department of St. Joseph College

Much awaited school boundary wall construction has begun. New Kitchen and dinning hall work will soon began and reflooring of Boys hostel and classrooms are going on.

The result of Common Annual Examination of class XI declared. Out of 105, 2 students failed and 5 are placed in supplementary.

Now every Friday afternoon, special activities for the scouts and the guides will be held. They have to come in their scout and guide uniforms.

As a part of institutional Head exchange program to enrich knowledge, Mr Lhundup Namgyal, Head Master, TCV, Suja, Dharamsala is here in the school from 8th to 11th April,2008.

The School Library Committee has organized an attractive “BOOK Exhibition” for a week from 9th to 14th April. The students visited the Library in classwise.

Master Sangay Rinchen, Class XII and Miss khando pema, Class XII were elected as Head Boy and Head Girl for this session along with 16 prefects, four from each house on 16th April.

On 17th April, School organized its annual day function. The chief guest for the day was Mrs. Norzin Norbula, the Administrator of Himalayan Nursery school, Darjeeling and other invitees were the all the presidents of all NGOs of Tibetan community. The prizes for position holders in the field of academic and co curricular activities were gave away by the chief guest. The Principal had presented the annual report comprising of the academic and cultural achievements of the school for 2007 and also on going construction works of the school. New kitchen and dinning hall construction will be carried out soon. The chief guest also gave short speeches which was very motivating and inspiring to students to achieve higher and still higher. Finally, the vote of thanks was given by the Rector with thanking all the staff who made the day very successful.

The first ever meeting of the executive committee was held in Manjushree Tibetan Cultural centre guest room lobby on 30th August,2007. It was inaugurated with “Thoue” a much sought after traditional Tibetan cookies made of cheese and butter of Dri (Female yak) brought all the way from Tibet. Meeting was attended by all members in which we discussed about the nature, aims and objectives as well as activities of the alumni association.

Again on 7th September 2007, executive members gathered in the guest room of Manjushreee and drafted the constitution of the alumni after much open discussion and gave the opinion about making a logo for the association.

On 14th September, a group photo was taken and Logo was approved. To finance the initial expenses, a sum of Rs 5200/- (Five thousands and two hundred) was donated by the treasurer and the President. The decision was taken to call the General Body meeting once the registration is completed and the Website is launched.

The Association is legally and officially registered as Board of Trustee to meet and achieve the set targets under the West Bengal State Government completing all the required procedure by laws and act in accordance with act of laws in the month of December 2007

As the School is closed for Winter Vacation, the Association could not hold the General Body Meeting to announce formally to the Alumni in particular and to the community in General. Therefore, the General Body Meeting will be held sometimes in the month of March 2008.

The School had been closed from 16th December 2007 for Winter Vacation till 5th February, 2008. However, the Students of Class X and Class XII have been called to attend the winter Coaching Classes to make them prepare for the All India Board Examination (AISSE/AISSE-2008)

The School will re-open on 5th February, 2008 and new admission to the school will be completed till the end of February – 2008. Mostly, new comers are expected from Mao, Tezu, Bomdilla, Orissa, Pokhriabong as there are feeder school for CST, Darjeeling after passing out their Classes V and VIII.

The Principal has taken the serious note of weak students and he prepared a special coaching class for them in order to achieve the cent percent result for which Expert Teachers have been arranged for them.

The Students of Classes X and XII had begun their second Pre-Board Examination or Trial Test to give a ample practices and Studies to prepare for the Final Examination which is supposed to be held in the First Week of March Till April – 2008.

The School has innovated the idea of setting up of OPEN MATH LABORATORY in the campus as to inculcate the awareness in Math Subjects. Also 25 Mathematical Figures have seen to be constructed in concrete figure with name and the basic formula of the figure.
