Many a times we have dwelled upon the past, lived on the memories of our “ golden school days” when care , caution and concern were just strangers to us.
It was during those innocent carefree school life we had cemented our lifelong friendship and learned the rudimentary skills needed for life.
Travelling down varied memory lanes makes us sometimes feel nostalgic, chokes the throat and eyes swell with tears while sometimes they create an aura of laughter around us. We even long to hear those funny nicknames which earlier made us blush or angry but now they bring a wide smile to our faces. In the midst of all our respective responsibilities and anxieties of our adulthood, with our shoulders heavy with our own burdens, I am certain all will agree that deep down each one of us miss our old friends and those carefree days when we were just students.
Like a young bird who is oblivious to the hazards of flying, so were we when we left the protection and shade of our school.. Each one of us drifted away from each other to face and tackle the challenges of life losing contact with our schoolmates in the bargain.
The idea and need of an Alumni Association must have cropped in many minds, but before it could materialize, it vanished like soap bubbles. As the proverb goes “ better late than never” so,finally on 20th September, 2007 the C.S.T Darjeeling Alumni Association took form in the School’s Multi Purpose Hall with the initiative of two ex- students, Mr.Upendra Pradhan and Mr. Tsultrim. On that historic day, ninety- five of our ex- students residing in Darjeeling unanimously agreed to the proposition for the formation of the Association electing the ten executive members.
I sincerely hope that the Association can serve as a medium or a bridge through which old ties can be re-established, strained relations reconciled, act as a platform to share ideas, extend help to those of us to whom life has been harsh and to express our gratitude to the School. I may also be allowed to take the liberty of appealing to all the ex-students of C.S.T Darjeeling to join us as members and help bring those who are unaware back to our fold.
I on behalf of the members would like to take this opportunity to thank the School for the recognition and extension of valuable support to our Association.
I am also extremely grateful to the present executive who have worked very hard in drafting the Charter, getting the Association registered and now have succeeded in opening this present website for the Association which will further help to connect all ex- students spread all over the world.
Finally I pray for the success of our Association and hope that it’s endeavours will bear fruits.
